Broken-device quotes are temporarily paused

Looking to Sell a Broken Phone?

GizmoGrind currently routes working phones to local partner stores for in-person trade-in. We are not quoting phones with cracked screens, liquid damage, major hardware faults, or devices that do not power on during this launch phase.

What currently qualifies?

A phone can still qualify when it powers on, functions normally, has no activation lock or blacklist status, and matches an available condition in the quote flow. Ordinary cosmetic wear is different from a broken device.

  • Working display and touch controls
  • Cameras, buttons, charging, and wireless functions operate normally
  • Find My or other activation locks are removed
  • The device is not lost, stolen, financed, or blacklisted

Options for a damaged phone

  1. 1. Protect your data. Back up the phone, sign out of your accounts, and erase it when possible.
  2. 2. Compare repair value. Ask a reputable repair shop whether the repair cost is lower than the phone's working resale value.
  3. 3. Recycle safely. Use a manufacturer, municipal, or certified electronics recycling program when repair is not economical.
  4. 4. Handle batteries carefully. Stop using a phone with a swollen, punctured, hot, or leaking battery and follow local hazardous-waste guidance.

Broken Phone Trade-In FAQ

Does GizmoGrind currently buy broken phones?

Not right now. GizmoGrind has temporarily paused quotes for phones with cracked screens, water damage, major hardware faults, or devices that do not power on.

Can I sell a phone with normal cosmetic wear?

Yes. A working phone with ordinary scratches or signs of use may still qualify. The phone must match one of the working conditions shown in the quote flow and pass an in-store inspection.

What should I do with a broken phone?

Back up your data if possible, remove activation locks, and contact a reputable repair shop or electronics recycling program. Do not place a damaged or swollen battery in household waste.

Will broken-phone trade-ins return?

They may return in a future phase after partner acceptance rules and repair-cost pricing are ready. This page will be updated when the program changes.
